Disappointed on return visit
I was a huge fan of Myristica when I visited it several times earlier this year. My partner and I enjoyed wonderfully tasty and unusual dishes such as soft shell crab pakora and ostrich kebab. However, it was with bitter disappointment that we settled our bill tonight. The menu had changed, and both of us agreed that this was not a good thing. I can only imagine that they have employed a new chef, because the food was nothing close to what we has enjoyed earlier in the year. Both of our main dishes were bland and salty, and my partner had to send his rabbit starter back because he nearly chocked on a leporine rib bone. Although we recieved an apology and refund on the starter, the rest of the meal did not make up for it.
The worst part of my meal was a 'Kerala paratha'. I had high hopes for this bread having tasted some spectacularly light paratha bread on a recent trip to Kerala. But alas, the paratha was every bit as oily and stodgy as the ones that get delivered to your door at midnight from places with as auspicious names as 'Curry Hotline'.
I really hope this was a blip, but until we hear that things have changed at Myristica, my partner and I will not be returning. And I say that with regret, because a trip there previously has been a rare saved for treat.
