    A proper pub

This is a dangerous pub....but dangerous in the best possible way. It is practically impossible to stay for only one drink as the eclectic mix of people and excellent atmosphere will keep you there much longer than intended - especially at the weekend when they are open til 1am.
The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgable and the music is always good.
Occasional DJ nights and events in the pub and an award winning fringe theatre venue upstairs means there is always a different mix of people to entertain you.
There is also an excellent range of lagers and ales along with ciders and wines - you are spoilt for choice really.

And no review of the Old Red is complete without mentioning the best pub dog ever - Rolo the boxer, who features prominently on the pub sign.

Best pub in Angel (if not London)

There really is not a bad word I can say about the Old Red (as its affectionately known)If conversation is your thing you will be hard pushed not to strike one up with its eclectic mix of customers who range from the locals to Theatregoers (from both Sadlers Wells and its own Theatre upstairs) from soap opera celebs to the occasional film star
and all in between, I do believe it has the best mix around!

The selection of ales is great and the rest is not bad either.

The staff are some of the friendliest you can meet and always seem to be having a good time which helps create an atmosphere hard to match.

And lets not forget its famous upstairs theatre which shows some of the best fringe theatre in the UK today.
The walls a littered with photos from plays down the years with many actors of note who have performed there through the years.

If you have never been you must go to sample what your missing out on and if you have... then im preaching to the converted!
