I love visiting the cathedral, its so calm and beautiful definatley worth a visit its in the city centre so its not hard to find. there is a small gift shop with the usual erasers, notepads, postcards etc and some other items such as books. there is also a coffee shop which serves food.or you can eat your lunch on one of the grassy areas around the cathedral.I love the cloisters with all their gargoyles, you can wander round for ages just looking. In the main hall there are beautiful decorated ceilings which can be viwed with a mirror on a stand that hey have left for you. they still play the organ and it sounds amazing, so if you can go to one of the concerts they hold there. You can even visit Edith Cavells grave which on the grounds of the cathedral.

    Peaceful oasis

A wonderfully peaceful place in the middle of the city. The cathedral grounds are lovely and relaxing, making you feel a million miles away from the city centre hustle and bustle! A great place for lunch on the lawns, or walks down by the river. The cathedral itself is a majestic building and is free to enter (but they'll ask for a donation). If there are religious services or weddings on, they might ask you to leave. The interior is gorgeous. Be sure to look up – there are over 1000 roof 'bosses', little carvings depicting scenes and people at the junction of all the roof beams and supports. There are usually one or two staff around who can answer questions, and of course there is a gift shop.

    Worth a look

This is a truly stunning cathedral and well worth a visit if you are in Norwich. It is in the busy part so is easy to get to and close to many bars and cafes so is nice to take family as there is plenty to see. The area around the cathedral is really pretty and interesting and nice to wander around if you do happen to hit a busy day. Best to avoid the weddings as it does get fairly busy, unless you are a guest of course!
The building itself is lovely, very traditional and beautiful and definately worth while having a look in. The little shop is nice also and went down well with the older members of our group. It was free entry when we went but you can offer a donation and i is worth doing so if you are able to.

    do visit

Norwich Cathedral is located just outside the main shopping areas. To get to it obtain a map of Norwich and make sure you walk down Elm Hill [ a much photographed area]. The cathedral itself is very imposing and large. Make sure you also walk round the outside and stop by Edith Cavell's grave. Inside ensure you look at the ceiling and the wooden carvings - all quite magnificent. Also you must go through the cloisters and see where the monks used to wash. The ceiling here by the section that joins the cathedral is also worth viewing.
Whilst here also take a walk down to the river and the mush photographed Pulls Ferry

This is a lovely place to visit. It's free to enter (they do ask for a donation if you can though) and it's right in the centre of Norwich so it's not too far out to go and see.
It doesn't take long to have a look around everything (only about 30 minutes) but it is beautiful. Children may not appreciate this as much as adults though.
There is a little gift shop attatched to the Cathedral which stocks lots of little gifts and some rather nice broaches which my Mum loves!
Make sure before you go though that no one is getting married that day as you may well be turned away.
    This place is lovely!
